Disclaimer

Here are some details about how RiverBent operates so you can understand more about who we are, our river experience, and our objectives for this web site.

  1. RiverBent assumes no responsibility for your safety while engaging in outdoor activities, including river running. This web site is owned and operated by Michele Crockett and Audrey Crockett, a mother-and-daughter team who, with their husbands and other extended friends and family, have been running rivers of various levels of difficulty for 20+ years. We are not expert boaters. We offer no instructions for boating here. But we do have plenty of tips and opinions about how to organize trips, how to conduct river trip research, how to put together some great river trip meals, and how to choose gear that you will love and use for years. Our opinions are entirely our own and are not intended to be directives to our readers. Keep in mind that river running is inherently dangerous. Of course all outdoor adventures, especially river running, can be dangerous in various ways. We urge you to always take safety precautions and never, ever jump into any river trip or outdoor activity (log jumping comes to mind) that makes you feel uncomfortable. The tips and guidelines we share here are for your consideration only. It’s up to you to take personal responsibility for your own safety. RiverBent is in no way responsible for any scrapes you might get into out there.
  2. RiverBent assumes no responsibility for your experience with gear, services, or organizations that we mention on the site. Our opinions are entirely our own, and we offer them with goodwill but no guarantees.
  3. RiverBent is a for-profit business venture. We generate income through site advertising and affiliate links—both in the posts and in other areas of the site—to gear that we believe will be of interest to our audience. As an AvantLink affiliate, we might earn a small commission on gear that you purchase after clicking on one of our affiliate links. This commission to RiverBent comes at no cost to you, and we appreciate your support of the site. However, we also include links to gear that we have used and love even if we don’t have an affiliate relationship with that provider. With every piece of gear we mention, our intent is steer you toward the solution that we think will work best in a particular situation—whether or not we have an affiliate relationship with that provider. We will always do our best to clearly label links that are affiliate links. At this time, we do not engage in sponsored content partnerships. We do not accept free gear or services, nor do we accept discounts. If you have any questions about our business operations, please contact us at [email protected]
  4. All content on this site is the sole property and responsibility of RiverBent. We reserve the right to modify, add, or remove any content or add/remove features of the site. All photos that are not credited were taken either by Michele Crockett or Audrey Crockett and are the sole property of RiverBent. Links to our photos and content are welcome—with attribution to RiverBent. Failure to link back and credit RiverBent constitutes copyright violation. All photos not taken by us are credited and used with permission of the owner.
  5. We encourage references to RiverBent. We love it when other publications and blogs refer to RiverBent or use our photos as long as these references include credit and a link back to RiverBent. If you’d like to use more than a few photos or longer pieces of text, please contact us at info@riverbent for permission.
  6. If you have questions about your privacy as a RiverBent reader, please check out our Privacy Policy.

That’s it for the serious stuff! Let’s get back to river running.
